Question 2.1 · Domain class diagrams · 8 marks
Consider the following scenario about a university: courses are offered as course sections, and a given student enrols in many course sections, while each course section contains many students. Typical attributes of a course include course code, course title, course credits and NQF level; a course section includes a section number, a start time and a room number; and typical attributes of a student are student number, student name and major. Using the university scenario described above, construct a simple domain class diagram that represents the relevant classes and their relationships. Apply camelback (camelCase) notation for the class names and attribute names where this is appropriate.Show the full question
Question 3.1 · Domain class diagrams · 17 marks
Consider the following airport check-in scenario, which is used to answer question 3.1: A passenger arrives at the airport and proceeds to the airline desk to check in. The passenger presents their ticket, and passenger services checks its validity. If the ticket is valid, the airline produces a boarding pass, which gives the passenger permission to enter the restricted area of the airport and to board the airplane for a particular flight. If the ticket is not valid, the passenger is not allowed to fly and is referred to booking/reservation services. The boarding pass identifies the passenger, the flight number, the seat number, and the date and scheduled time of departure. While the passenger is boarding the airplane, the passenger's luggage is simultaneously loaded or checked in by the airplane staff, organised by luggage number. Some passengers have only hand luggage, so their luggage is not loaded in the same way as that of other passengers. After passengers have boarded the plane, the air traffic controller gives the pilot instructions to prepare for take-off and to move the airplane to a certain runway, known as 'taxiing', in preparation for departure. Based on the airport check-in description provided, draw a class diagram representing the scenario. Candidates do not need to make any assumptions or to specify multiplicity on the diagram.Show the full question
Question 4.1 · Activity diagrams · 21 marks
This question refers back to the airport check-in scenario given in Question 3, in which a passenger arrives at the airport and approaches the airline desk to check in. The passenger hands over their ticket, and passenger services staff verify whether it is valid. Where the ticket is valid, the airline issues a boarding pass that authorises the passenger to enter the airport's restricted area and board the aircraft for a specific flight; if the ticket is not valid, the passenger is turned away from flying and is directed to the booking/reservation services instead. The boarding pass records the passenger's identity, the flight number, the seat number, and the scheduled date and time of departure. At the same time as the passenger boards, the airline staff load or check in the passenger's luggage onto the aircraft, tracking each item by its luggage number; passengers travelling with only hand luggage have no items loaded in this way. Once all passengers have boarded, the air traffic controller instructs the pilot to prepare for take-off and to taxi the aircraft to the designated runway as part of the departure procedure. Using the airport check-in and departure scenario described in Question 3, construct a corresponding activity diagram that models the process from the passenger's arrival through to the aircraft taxiing for departure.Show the full question
